RESILIENCE AND RENEWAL FOR VETERANS

Caring for Veterans can be a challenge for people who've not experienced the situations and traumas particular to military service no matter whether it's "down range" (e.g. combat-related) or stateside. Taking time to become familiar to each veteran's unique experience is essential in order to provide effective care and assistance.

Education

  • Identifying stress

Separating current stress from the leftover burden of hard times in the past; learning to distinguish between negative stress and positive challenges in the present

  • Removing stigma

Changing the perspective from emotional disease and disorder to the common thread of being human and undergoing adversity

  • Recognizing your resilience

Going beyond “bouncing back to same old” to moving forward and growing stronger

Training

  • Anger management

Working through rage and inappropriate aggression to become assertive; transforming anger into a motivating force for positive change

  • Self-care

Committing to full-spectrum self-care – physical, emotional, social, mental, and spiritual – is not selfish, but essential for life success and satisfaction

Coaching

  • Reviving hope

Holding fast to the attitude that good will come, no matter what life throws at you

  • Reentering regular life

Winning the battle to find your “new normal” in work and relationships

  • Discovering your next (new) mission

Finding new passion and purpose – you’re not done serving
